Coatings

It is recommended that all Hebel Block and Panel systems be coated to provide an aesthetic finish and additional protection against mechanical wear and weathering.

The type of coating system required depends on the application and the required aesthetics.

Hebel Render

Hebel render is sand and cement based plaster coating used to finish Hebel block surfaces, it can be used internally and externally, producing a high quality finish, at a reasonable price. Coverage depends on thickness and covers approximately 2.5 to 1.6 m² per 20 kgs bag. Recommended finished thickness should be 5mm to 8mm.

Paint finishes over rendered walls should only be acrylic based to allow the building to breathe, by letting vapour pass through. Oil based paints should not be used except in areas where moisture vapour barriers are required.

Colouring Hebel render for external walls, using oxides or dyes is NOT recommended as there is no flexible skin of pain to combat moisture ingress.

Acrylic Plaster Systems

Hebel Supercoat is an Interior/ Exterior acrylic paint, which has been formulated to provide an affordable, high performance coating for use over rendered or acrylic textured Hebel.

It gives excellent levels of breathability, water repellence, elasticity, crack spanning and elongation, with proven superior resistance to fading caused by Ultra Violet light and resistance to wear and abrasion.

Supercoats smooth flowing characteristics and colour density give it excellent spread rates, flowing off the brush or roller and providing solid colour, often in a single coat.

Not only is Hebel Supercoat the perfect acrylic coating to use over Hebel Highbuild Render on Hebel Blocks and Panels it can also be used on plasterboard linings (once primed with Sealer), smooth or rough sawn timber, primed steel, concrete, plaster, fibre-cement, MDF and particle boards.
