Hebel Power Panel Cladding

Hebel Panel Cladding is a robust 75mm thick reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) panel, used as an external cladding on steel or timber framed construction. The panels are rigid and reinforced with both vertical and horizontal steel bars.

Hebel Panel Cladding is appraised as compliant with the New Zealand Building Code. In terms of weather tightness, it is an Alternative Solution to traditional drained cavity systems. Unlike drained ventilated cavity systems, the 24mm batten space is completely sealed. No cold air penetrates into the batten space and the insulating effect of Hebel Panel Cladding prevents condensation forming within this space. This still air space provides additional insulation.

Hebel Panel Cladding has quickly become accepted as a high quality, cost effective, yet simple cladding system with over a thousand home owners throughout New Zealand already enjoying its benefits.

Hebel Panel cladding is ideal for retro-fitting to older houses to replace existing claddings. It can improve the appearance, and the thermal and acoustic performance of existing buildings. It is successfully used on multi-storey structures, with allowance for a movement joint at each floor level.

Hebel panels and blocks can also used for, interior partitions, fireplaces, gas cylinder enclosures and letterboxes.

Benefits

  • Hebel Panel cladding has excellent acoustic insulation properties, and provides a very efficient sound barrier, blocking up to 47 decibels. (Timber framed building clad with bricks, or weatherboards typically block 19 to 25 decibels of noise). This makes Hebel a very effective sound barrier and as such is used extensively around motorway systems and railways to protect homes from excessive noise. With houses typically being built closer to each other these days Powerpanel provides a much quieter environment to live in.
  • Powerpanel alone has an R rating of 0.97 and when combined with standard 2.2 Batts gives a finished R value of over 3.2. The high insulation factor and incombustibility of Hebel AAC means added safety from fire. The Powerpanel system achieves a 3 hour fire rating which far exceeds New Zealand's building requirements and is ideal for close boundary walls.
  • Each panel has 4 steel reinforcing bars running vertically as well as transverse bars every 600mm. Unlike the majority of monolithic cladding systems being used today the Powerpanels are thick, robust and impact resistant, and provide a superior substrate for acrylic plaster systems.

Apart from meeting the requirements of the NZ Building Code of 50 years durability CSR guarantees the product against manufacturing defects for 10 years. Hebel AAC is non-toxic and proudly wears the Australian Environmental choice award. As Powerpanel is breathable it has the ability to transfer moisture vapour whilst remaining waterproof. This results in much less condensation. As the method of installation requires a 22mm cavity there is no build up of moisture against the timber frame therefore problems of dry rot and fungal build up are totally avoided.
